All about the detail
Hi, I'm a Melbourne-based freelance finished artist and retoucher. For more than 20 years I've lent my eye for detail to a wide range of graphic design projects in both print and online media.
I've had the pleasure of working on some of Australia’s most recognisable brands as well as countless interesting smaller projects. No matter what I’m working on, I love nothing more than taking a design that’s rough around the edges and crafting it into something neat and professional.
So what is a finished artist?
A finished artist (production artist, graphic artist, artworker, etc.) can be many different things. Taking the initial work of a graphic designer, I can polish and refine a design, iron out inconsistencies, eliminate errors, adapt it to suit different layouts and content and for print jobs in particular, adjust and correctly prepare the file so that the printed item will look as effective as it does on screen. To me it’s about allowing the designer to focus on their creativity while handing the nitty gritty over to someone who relishes in it.
My experience over time has covered a wide range of material, including:
FMCG and alcohol packaging across a variety of substrates
Books, magazines, brochures and direct mail pieces
Indoor and outdoor signage such as window graphics, billboards and hoardings
Print and online advertisements
Brandmark refinement, asset creation and style guide development
Typesetting in many languages
Retouching and manipulation of images – everything from high-end lifestyle photography to breakfast foods
